Cultural Tour of India and Nepal

Cultural Tour of India and Nepal is a unique attempt to discover the combined the rich cultural heritage of two prime south Asian countries over a fortnight. From the capital of India, Delhi, the itinerary takes a tourist to royal capital Jaipur and Mughal majesty, Agra. The middle of the tour allows them to unravel the mysteries of Jhansi and Khajuraho in the central state, Madhya Pradesh. The next destination in the row is Varanasi, the oldest continuing city of India and also the city of lights and learning. Here, tourists get to experience the serenity of Sarnath, where Lord Buddha preached his first sermon and laid the foundation of Buddhism by turning the wheel of law. This cultural Buddhist site is exemplified with the presence of various stupas and monasteries.

The next cultural destination is Lumbini in Nepal, associated strongly with the birth of Siddhartha, the future Buddha. Later, this peaceful experience gets accentuated with the visit to Chitwan, the world heritage site known for its tiger and rhino spotting. The last cultural destination in this Cultural Tour of India and Nepal is Kathmandu, known for the presence of two surreal stupas, namely Boudhanath and Swayambhunath.
Day 01 : Arrive Delhi

Upon arrival in Delhi International Airport, meet Buddhist Train Tour representative who will assit your transfers to the hotel for overnight.
Day 02 : Delhi

After breakfast, begin morning tour of Old Delhi, preserving the rich and quaint heritage of the destination. This is defined by the presence of 17th century walled city illustrated with the presence of splendid gates, forts, narrow alleys, mosques and old markets. Visit Red Fort, Jama Masjid and Raj Ghat during the old Delhi tour. In the noon, begin the drive to New Delhi through wide avenues, parks, fountains and lush surroundings in the heart of the city. Drive via imposing structures of Parliament House and President House, the citadels of Indian democracy. Later this day, visit India Gate, Jantar Mantar observatory, Humayun's Tomb and Qutab Minar as a part of Delhi city tour. Overnight in Delhi.
Day 03 : Delhi - Jaipur

After breakfast, continue the drive to Jaipur. On arrival, check in the hotel. Evening is free to relax & visit the colourful markets of Jaipur, famous for its semi precious jewelry, carpets and blue pottery. Overnight at hotel.
Day 04 : Jaipur

After breakfast, begin the morning excursion to Amer or Amber Fort, one of the experiences unique to this fortress in Jaipur. Ascending on a painted elephant or a Jeep Safari to this red sandstone fort with huge gateways and pillared pavilions forms a great reason to visit this 16th century monument. The other attraction of Amber fort includes a marble palace, temple of victory and Sheesh Mahal (Hall of Mirrors).

In afternoon, continue Jaipur city tour with a visit to City Palace and Museum. The palace consists of Chandra Mahal and Mubarak Mahal. A greater part of Chandra Mahal is a royal residence, whereas a smaller chunk of the palace has been converted into a museum. Visit another ornate attraction of the city, Hawa Mahal (Palace of Winds), known for its delicate screens carved into stone crown. Also visit Jantar Mantar, the famous observatory of the city. Overnight in Jaipur.
Day 05 : Jaipur - Fatehpur Sikri - Agra (236 Kms / 5 Hrs)

After breakfast, check out from Jaipur for drive to Agra, the city reminiscent of love. Enroute visit Fatehpur Sikri the city built by Emperor Akbar in 1569 to immortalize his dreams and visions in stone. Built entirely in red sandstone over a huge area, this city still presents the intricate fusion of Hindu and Persian architectural styles. Witness the graceful buildings in the complex, including Jama Masjid, Tomb of Salim Chisti, Panch Mahal & other places. For fifteen years, this city served as the royal fort, but later got abandoned because of water supply shortage. On arrival in Agra, check in the pre booked hotel. Evening is free for leisure or you may walk around the markets. Overnight in Agra.
Day 06 : Agra

Morning begin the city tour of Agra through a visit to Taj Mahal, the majestic testimony of love built by Mughul Emperor Shahjahan in 1630 to preserve the mortal remains of his queen Mumtaz Mahal. Later visit Agra Fort dominated by red sandstone construction & houses the beautiful Pearl Mosque and other noteworthy structures. Overnight in Agra.

Day 07 : Agra - Jhansi (By Train) & Jhansi - Khajuraho

After breakfast, transfer to Railway Station to board train (just for approx. 2 hrs.) to Jhansi. Upon arrival in Jhansi, move towards Khajuraho, the medieval sculpted spectacle of temples. Recognized as world heritage sites, these temples are dedicated to the intricate sculptures depicting the life and advanced thoughts of Chandela Rajputs. Enroute visit Orchha and it’s the legacy of stone forts. Khajuraho is famous for its 10th century Chandela dynasty temples and their erotic sculpture. Overnight in Khajuraho.
Day 08 : Khajuraho - Varanasi (By Flight)

After breakfast, visit the group of temples at Khajuraho, famous for its erotic sculptures. In the afternoon, transfer to Airport and board the flight for Varanasi. Varanasi is most important place of pilgrimage for Hindus. Situated on the eastern banks of Ganges, Varanasi is the city of lights and learning. Upon arrival in Varanasi, transfer to the hotel for overnight.
Day 09 : Varanasi

Early morning, begin the mesmerizing boat ride experience along side the holy River Ganges and witness the sacred Hindu rituals along the bustling riverfronts or ghats. Return to hotel for breakfast. Later leave for Sarnath, the site of Lord Buddha’s first sermon. This site is seen with a lot of reverence amongst the Buddhists all over the world, binding the faith and cultural heritage of India and Nepal together. Afternoon begin the Varanasi city tour via a visit to Bharat Mata temple, Durga Temple, Tulsi Manas Temple and Benaras Hindu University. Evening is free for shopping silk fabrics, Sarees, made-up’s and scarves. Overnight in Varanasi.
Day 10 : Varanasi - Lumbini (450 Kms 9 hrs)

Morning after breakfast, proceed to Lumbini - The birth place of Lord Buddha and an important site connecting the cultural ties between India & Nepal. After clearing Immigration & Custom Formalities & transfer to hotel. Overnight in Lumbini.
DAY 11 : Lumbini - Chitwan (130 Kms 4 hrs)

Morning after breakfast, visit Mayadevi Temple for a diversified sightseeing of Lumbini and its cultural heritage. Later drive to world heritage site of Chitwan National Park. Transfer to Jungle lodge. The park is known for its rhino and tiger sightings. Safaris are conducted on elephant back, canoes and land rovers. Overnight in Chitwan’s Jungle Lodge.
DAY 12 : Chitwan National Park
Continue the morning and evening jungle safari in Chitwan National Park. Overnight in Lodge.
DAY 13 : Chitwan-Kathmandu
Early morning, drive to Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. On arrival, check in at hotel. Later half day continue the Kathmandu city tour including a visit to City Palace, Patan, Boudhanath and Swayambhunath. In evening, view the Nepali cultural dance performance as a farewell to Cultural Tour of India and Nepal. Overnight in Kathmandu.
DAY 14 : Depart Kathmandu

After breakfast, transfer to international airport to connect flight for onwards destination.
